To make things easier for our guests to book with us, online booking is available through this website. Sadly, we are not related to Bill Gates and our cyber hosting is not as good as our reality hosting so please shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you think your booking may have gone space travelling. We endeavour to reply to all bookings within 48 hours to confirm. Online bookings are only confirmed once the deposit has been paid via the online payments process.
You can also book online via booking.com, however the rates on our own website are the lowest available.
Check In and Out
We ask that guests arrive after 4pm on the first night of their stay and check out before 11am on departure day. This gives us enough time to get the towels fluffy and the granola crunchy. Nobody likes soggy granola.
To ensure all our guests have a peaceful stay, we do not accept arrivals after 8pm.
Breakfast is included in all our room rates and is served from 8.30-10am in the dining room. We love to use the fabulous local Normandy produce and source as much as possible from local growers.
Our local bakery supplies the baguettes and croissants fresh every morning. Tea, Lavazza coffee and hot chocolate are endless and we’ve got a cracker Delonghi bean-to-cup coffee machine . Our butter is from the happy Norman cows via the world famous D’Isgny butter factory nearby. Our jams are made in house (strawberry, apricot and mirabelle plum from the tree in our garden) or those wanting a little bit of home peanut butter, Nutella, and Vegemite are to hand. Our honey is from the flower prairies surrounding Mont St Michel.
To help you get your five a day, we serve a fresh yoghurt and fruit parfait with home made granola (baked daily to Nigella’s recipe – minus the raisins). Berries are from our local “pick your own” farm between Bayeux and Caen and picked fresh each day in summer.
In winter the open fire in the dining room keeps everyone toasty.
Arromanches gets busy in summer and parking can be difficult – particularly during the day. La Pommetier is a fully walled and gated property with parking for up to four (normal size) cars in our courtyard. This means we need to stick to one car per room and monster trucks and really big cars will need to park locally. Our gates operate electronically by digicode. Please be warned that our two cavalier king charles spaniels love a car ride and are not fussy about which car they jump into if a door is left open. Also, if you drive a very sporty low wheel base car, firstly lucky you, and secondly please take care as you go through our gates as there is a slight hump which can scrape your sporty bits.
We do not have electric car charging facilities onsite but there are two charging station spots less than 100m from us at the corner of Place du Groupe Lorraine and Boulevard Gilbert Longuet.
Most parking in Arromanches is free (excepting the carpark immediately on the waterfront at Place 6 Juin which is only free after 7pm and to 9am) and there are around 10 spaces in front of the church behind La Pommetier and further parking in the streets around us. Generally parking is easier in the evening once the day-trippers have left and you’ll find Arromanches a quiet haven with only the locals and those staying locally in the village eating in the restaurants or enjoying an evening stroll on the beach.
Sadly we are unable to accommodate pets at La Pommetier. For those of you missing your fur-kids, we have our resident gentledogs Trevor and Darren the cavalier king charles spaniels who have come from Australia with us. You are welcome to ‘borrow’ them while you are in the garden if you don’t mind endless pats, potential for missing biscuits, and snoring (Trevor). They are very gentle and potter around the property (slowly – they are thirteen now) and we ask guests to please ensure Trevor and Darren don’t potter out of the gates when you are coming and going.
As much as we’d love to, we are not equipped to have additional dogs stay with us as we try to keep all our guest rooms as allergy free as possible (Trevor and Darren are never in the guest bedrooms but they are sneaky if you hear paws following you upstairs). If you have an aversion to dogs, please let us know and we’ll make sure Trevor and Darren are out of your way. They will be miffed, but they will get over it (eventually).
As we are a small establishment – just four rooms – and we book up quickly, to secure the lowest rates on our website we require full payment via Paypal (you can use your credit card or your paypal account) at the time of booking. The online booking process will step you through this process and you don’t need to have a Paypal account of your own. Your booking with us will not be confirmed until payment has been made.
Alternatively you can book and pay online with your credit card via booking.com.
We know things change and stuff happens that may affect your travel plans. For bookings made on this website cancellations are available up to ten days in advance of your booking with a refund provided. The refund amount will be the amount of your payment less the Paypal transaction fee of 3.4% + 30c US.
In order to keep the house and rooms fresh for all guests, smoking is not permitted inside at La Pommetier. There are smoke detectors in all the bedrooms and throughout the house. Guests found to be smoking inside the house will be asked to leave pronto with no refund available. You are free to smoke in the garden if it’s not affecting other guests and we’ll leave an ashtray out for you if you let us know.
If you leave a little part of you behind that you can’t live without, please let us know asap and we’ll arrange to get it back to you. We will get a quote from our local post office for the cost of returning it to you and confirm the amount with you – plus our 10 euro handling fee – prior to arranging online payment from you. We get it that this is a bit of a cost to get your stuff back, but it’s the fairest process we can come up with given the time and cost required for us to get things back to you. Otherwise all items are kept here for one month before being donated to a local charity.
